Unique Properties of 48
- 48 is the smallest number with 10 divisors
- 48 is the only two-digit number that equals the difference of the squares of its digits: 48 = 82 - 42
- 48 is the first century with eight prime years
- It is possible to arrange 48 unit squares into a rectangle, so that the border squares take half the area. The only other option is with 60 squares

The number n is abundant if the sum of all its positive divisors except itself is more than n.
